cls 26 July 2022 News
The Meta PhD Research Fellowship program awards PhD candidates conducting cutting-edge research in emerging topics across computer science and engineering, including AI system hardware/software co-design, blockchain and cryptoeconomics, human-computer interaction, programming languages, and AR/VR future technologies.
Yufeng Zheng is a 2022 recipient of a Meta PhD Research Fellowship.
Yufeng gained her Bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University, and her Master’s degree in Computer Science at ETH Zurich. Yufeng joined the Center for Learning Systems (CLS) as a doctoral fellow on May 1, 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Otmar Hilliges (Full Professor and Head of the Institute of Intelligent Interactive Systems, Department of Computer Science, ETH Zurich) and co-supervised by Prof. Dr. Michael Black (Director and Head of the Perceiving Systems Department, MPI-IS Tübingen). For her doctoral research, Yufeng is aiming to automatically and efficiently reconstruct personalized animatable 3D avatars from 2D observations. At the core of this research plan are the 3D shape representations and their deformation and rendering techniques.
Yufeng Zheng is one of only 37 successful applicants – chosen from over 2,300 applications submitted worldwide – to receive the 2022 Fellowship, which includes a $42,000 stipend. Fellows are also invited to attend the annual Meta PhD Fellowship Summit, where they’ll have the opportunity to present their own research, discover more about the impact of current research at Meta, and build connections with Meta researchers and fellow award winners. Congratulations, Yufeng!
