ETH Zurich team led by Songyou Peng receive prize at workshop held in conjunction with CVPR 2022.
The 3rd SHApe Recovery from Partial textured 3D scans (SHARP) Workshop and Challenge was held in conjunction with CVPR 2022. This workshop hosted a competition with two challenges. The task of the challenges involved reconstructing a full 3D textured mesh from a partial 3D scan. The first challenge focused on the recovery of textured 3D scans from partial acquisition, while the second consisted of the recovery of fine object details in the form of sharp edges from noisy sparse scans with smooth edges. The competition was sponsored by Artec 3D.
CLS doctoral fellow Songyou Peng supervised a group of master students at ETH Zurich who took on the challenge. The team presented their work at the SHARP workshop on June 19, 2022 and won 1st place in partial object recovery and 2nd overall, walking away with certificates and prize money of 2000$. Songyou, who was present in person at the event, collected the prize.
Songyou joined CLS in 2019 and is conducting his doctoral research supervised by Prof. Marc Pollefeys at the Computer Vision and Geometry Group, D-INFK, ETH Zurich and co-supervised by Prof. Andreas Geiger, Head of the Autonomous Vision Group (AVG) at the University of Tübingen, and formerly at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.
